    Provisional Merit List

Initially, a provisional merit list is released, displaying your ranks based on your marks and category. Students should now verify that the information they submitted—such as their name, marks, etc.—is complete and accurate.

    Final Merit List

The final merit list is issued after rectifying any errors regarding students’ names or categories found in the provisional merit list.

    Filling out the option form

In the option form filling process, you are required to submit a preference list of colleges; please note that this is the most crucial stage of the entire process. The college you are allotted depends on the list you submit; therefore, filling it out with absolute accuracy is crucial. Even a minor error could cause you to miss out on your dream college, so students must exercise due care when preparing this list.

How to actually prepare the preference list

    1. A list of the student’s preferred ‘dream colleges’.

    2. A comparative analysis of the previous year’s college cut-offs against the student’s own marks and rank.

    3. Identifying alternative good colleges in case admission to the preferred college is not secured.

All these measures will certainly help minimize potential embarrassment for students when the need arises, and will also enable you to navigate the CAP round process smoothly.

    Seat Allotment

After submitting your college preference list, a seat is allotted to you based on your marks, percentile, rank, and category.

    Freeze/Not Freeze

After being allotted a college, you have two options available: ‘Self-Freeze’ or ‘Not Freeze’.If you wish to accept the college allotted to you, you can select the ‘Self-Freeze’ option, complete the admission process at the college, and exit the subsequent admission rounds; however, if you are not satisfied with the allotted college and wish to participate in the further process, you must select the ‘Not Freeze’ option to proceed, thereby remaining eligible for CAP Round II.

Just like in the first round, the option form filling and seat allotment process is also conducted for the second, third, and fourth rounds.
